TELEVISION

So, we wrote a TV pilot! Drawing from our childhood experiences singing together professionally and our love of a good drummer joke, my co-writer/twin-sister Laura and I were inspired to write a dramedy about a dysfunctional family band whose love of music binds them together, yet often tears them apart. Set in a woodsy resort town on Lake Tahoe in 1968, it’s an hour-long family comedy-drama series, with music. To request the pilot script, contact: info (at) twigs.com

TAHOE ’68

Created by Laura Good and Linda Good ©2022

An episodic comedy-drama about reinvention and redemption.

LOGLINE: In a 1968 sleepy resort town on Lake Tahoe, an estranged brother and sister are forced to resurrect their infamous family band to save their ailing mother’s supper club from the mob.

“THE EVANS FAMILY BAND is getting back together — whether they like it or not.”

Tahoe ’68 is the story of MAYBELLINE “BELLINE” EVANS (38), single mom and former half of a famous brother/sister act, who is on the brink of losing her family’s run-down supper club on Lake Tahoe, in the summer of 1968. When her estranged brother, down-on-his-luck former rock star WESLEY EVANS (40), shows up with big casino debts and burned bridges, she must find a way to keep the family and the club together. In spite of their talented angsty teens, musical blackmail, and fights about who gets to sing lead, THE EVANS FAMILY BAND is getting back together, whether they like it or not.

Set to the soundtrack of the best music of the 50’s and 60’s, three generations of the Evans family navigate their complicated history during the tumultuous upheaval of rapidly changing times in the late 60’s. Teen cousins LIZZY (16), DANIEL (14) and IRIS (13) discover who they are by learning the songs of the past and present, amidst their parent’s bad blood and broken hearts. LIZZY hears the beat of a new generation calling and wants to get out of her backwoods town. DANIEL is a guitar prodigy who wants to be Hendrix. IRIS is a polio survivor with a leg brace that keeps her in the shadows, and away from the spotlight. Tahoe ’68 is an episodic comedy-drama about reinvention and redemption through one family’s love of music, and the trials they must go through to achieve family harmony.
